What is a copacker?
A co-packer owns the facility, the equipment, and the certifications. You bring the formula and the relationship. Finding the right one is the hardest part of scaling a beverage brand — most aren’t listed anywhere useful, don’t respond to cold email, and won’t take on a new client without a referral or a minimum order that rules out early-stage brands entirely.
Is a copacker necessary for my business?
Depending on the cottage laws in your State, the current stage your business is at, and the nature of the product being manufactured you may NOT have to use a co-packer right away.
In most cases, effective scaling of the beverage will require access to capable, regulated manufacturing equipment.
Manufacturing equipment along with leasing space for the equipment will be extremely capital intensive before production or sales even happen.
